- Extra seats: $7.99/seat/month beyond the included seats.
- Usage past the monthly credit allowance is billed as overage at 1.3x the in-plan credit rate. Upgrading is always cheaper than sustained overage.
- No per-query fees: there is no per-call charge for MCP tools or REST requests. Credits meter data volume (ingest, embeddings, enrichment, and API egress by the GB), not the number of questions asked.

## Credit rates by plan

Effective in-plan rate = monthly price / included credits. Overage = in-plan rate x 1.3. The one-time onboarding grant (5x the monthly allowance, applied on first subscribe) exists so the first big ingest of an account does not immediately trip overage.

## Seats

A seat is a human member of the office (dashboard login + their own connected sources feeding the shared memory). Agents connecting over MCP or the API do not consume seats.

## Limits

- **API rate limit**: 120 requests/minute/IP on the public REST API; advisory `X-RateLimit-*` and RFC `RateLimit` headers on every response.
- **Versioning**: the API is URI-versioned (`/api/v1`); breaking changes ship as `/api/v2` with v1 kept for at least 12 months (Deprecation/Sunset headers).
- **Seats**: hard-capped at the plan's included seats plus any paid extra seats; agents connecting over MCP/API are unlimited and free of seat charges.
- **Credits**: allowances reset monthly and do not roll over; the onboarding grant persists until consumed.

## Startups program

## What credits pay for (metered vectors)

- **Ingest** (`ingest`): 10 credits per GB processed
- **API I/O** (`api_io`): 10 credits per GB processed
- **Embeddings** (`embeddings`): 100 credits per GB processed
- **Enrichment** (`enrichment`): 150 credits per GB processed

Worked example: connecting a Google Workspace account with ~2 GB of mail and documents costs roughly 2 GB x (10 ingest + 100 embeddings + 150 enrichment) = ~520 credits, which is why the onboarding grant is a multiple of the monthly allowance.

## Billing mechanics

- **Trial**: every plan starts with a 7-day free trial; no charge until the trial ends and cancelling during the trial costs nothing.
- **Billing cycle**: monthly or annual (annual = 12 months at 20% off). Managed via Stripe at https://mitosislabs.ai/billing.
- **Allowance reset**: the monthly credit allowance resets each billing cycle; unused in-plan credits do not roll over. The onboarding grant persists until consumed.
- **Plan changes**: upgrades take effect immediately with prorated billing; downgrades apply at the next cycle.
- **Cancellation**: cancel any time from https://mitosislabs.ai/billing; the memory stays readable through the end of the paid period.

## FAQ for agents

- **Is there a free tier?** No standing free tier; the 7-day trial on any plan is the free evaluation path, and the sandbox environment (below) is free for integration testing.
- **Do MCP tool calls cost credits?** There is no per-call charge. `cortex_ask`, `cortex_recall` and the other tools are metered only through the data-volume vectors above (notably `api_io` egress per GB).
- **What currency?** USD. Humans subscribe from https://mitosislabs.ai/billing (Stripe-hosted).
- **Can an agent pay on a user's behalf?** No. Mitosis deliberately implements no agent payment protocol (no x402, MPP, ACP, UCP, or AP2 surface). Agents should send the human to https://mitosislabs.ai/billing.
- **How do I compare plans programmatically?** `GET https://mitosislabs.ai/api/v1/pricing` returns this same data as JSON, including per-plan `monthlyPriceUsd`, `annualPriceUsd`, `monthlyCredits` and `includedSeats`.

## Test without spending
